The
Pensioners’ Cottage (Kårastova)
The
Pensioners’ Cottage is a newly restored
home from the 1750’s. Several generations
ago, the original log cabin was built out and
a second story added on. We have now managed to
uncover much of the original log construction,
combining tradition with modern standards.
From
the cozy living room you can enjoy a fantastic
view of the winding Stalheim road below you, the
farm settlements at Stalheim and the Brandseth
Valley straight ahead.
The
first floor contains a roomy entryway, with a
heated slate floor. The full service kitchen has
new cabinets stocked with utensils and china,
an integrated dishwasher and refrigerator.
The living room has a large dining table, sofa
and a woodstove for cozy evenings.
The bathroom has heated flooring and includes
a toilet, shower cabinet and clothes washer.
The
second story consists of three bedrooms. The Red
Room has a double bed (120cm); the Blue Room has
a double bed and a single bed; and the Green Room
has a queen size bed (150cm). There is a wardrobe
in the hallway for guest use.
There are a total of 7 sleeping places, all with
good mattresses. In addition, there are 2 sleeping
places on the sofa in the living room.
