Sivle
is an old farm in the steep terrain of Stalheim,
part of the county of Voss.
Per Sivle, one the most famous authors in
Norway around 1900, has his roots here. His
father, Eirik Sivle, was born at the Sivle
farm, and Per grew up on the neighboring Brekke
farm after the death of his mother.
Sivle Farm lies in
the Protected Landscape Area of Nærøydalen,
part of UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
There is a rich variety of flora and fauna
in this vast cultural landscape. Stalheim
and the surrounding area has been a popular
tourist attraction since the early 1800’s.
Many famous artists have painted the unique
and wild nature found here.
